THE DUKE SPIRIT - cuts across the land (loog records) |
|
I wonder that this band hasn't hit the hipsters in Germany yet. Could be, because I consider them to be the next big shit! I haven't heard such a good female fronted band for years. Somewhere between Sonic Youth and Jefferson Airplane, the guys from England have made an outstanding record you must hear loud! Very loud. Then I promise you'll shake your head immediately. The first song, named like the album, had caught me directly after the first chorus and made me seesaw with my foot. The second song is a goddamn rocker, which reminds me of above mentioned Jefferson Airplane. Song no. 3 is what you could call a ballade, but wait... not really. Five and six are beautiful with a lot of slide guitars and after these it's again rocking the hell out of you. Could be another album of the year.
