SNITCH - s/t (leech redda) |
|
Snitch surprised me, because they're only one of these bands who mix all styles and then release a good produced record. Bands from Switzerland aren't bad, and since a specific time, European and American standard punk bands aren't so different anymore. Differents first appear in higher skills or how to play a guitar in a unique way. But that are problems Snitch don't have to deal with. Their music is straight forward punk-hardcore-rock like Hot Water Music or Tribute to Nothing. That is not bad, since I especially like HWM. The surprise was that I felt something when I was listening to this self titled full length. After it was banned into my "punk-rock for later.... much later"-drawer I took it the yesterday that was before yesterday and gave them a listen. I don't regret it. The songs are somehow cliche, but always with ideas which show an understanding for good songwriting. The singer's voice is a bit like HWM but not so rough but a bit more whiny, which doesn't bother me at all. A powerful guitar play and a tight rythm-section complete the picture that there is a good band which made a good album. Another point is, that the songs vary. You don't have boring let's go songs and then a ballad. Instead it's all mixed up and it's fun to listen. Let's hope that their fans aren't only 15 year old kiddos with Pennywise tees, because that would disappoint me. Good record. Seriously.
