SIGURD - Doppelgaenger (Gentlemen) |
|
"Sigurd" sounds like a dotty band from iceland, but in fact this band is from Switzerland, consisting of two guys named Mathieu Urfer and Sébastien Altevogt, both of Chewy fame, who disbanded some time ago. Those two guys recorded their debut called "Doppelgaenger" on their own, but I haven't figured out how many people there will be on stage when they perform live. I guess I have to attend one of their shows to become certain. I really like this album, because there are so many different styles on it: there are leisure instrumental songs, songs of a mathematical intricacy and there are rock-like indie songs, sometimes even with vocals. Anyhow the album isn't as sparse as you might think when looking at the lineup and that's what makes me even more curious about how Sigurd will put their songs into practice. This is a brill album and it could have only been done better if it was less straight. But I guess I'm only saying this to name at least one negative thing about it.
