MENFOLK - colossus (play / rec)

Two basses, a guitar and drums is what I call an unusual band constellation. For Menfolk it was just the circumstances that made them found a band with this cast. So be it. But the result is more than worth mentioning. The guys from Denmark have musical similarities with Shellac, Surrogat, Kill Yourself and Ex-Barker, which isn't the worst reference in my opinion. The first song, Hell Is Texas, shows you where the record is going to lead to the remaining 30 minutes, namely and emotional math-rock inferno with lots of shouting and screaming, a bit singing and no boredom. Rhythm changes all 4 or 5 1/2 bars, breaks over and over and a furious voice. I think this album is a real treasure. A must have for people who like unusual bands.
