KULTUR SHOCK - We Came To Take Your Jobs Away (Koolarrow)
This band is obviously out for provocation. The musicians are from Bosnia, Bulgaria, Japan and America, and in the album title they play with a certain prejudice, which many of their compatriots might hear when living abroad. The cover fits: a plumber hanging in a toilet - this must be the hot-desired jobs, which the foreigners take away
from the residents. Second is the “K” in the band name. It looks german, and like we all know "German" means as much as "evil". The music is as multicolored as the nationalities of the band members. We know all Ethnocomedy, in this case we can probably call it Ethnopunk. Pretty similar to Gogol Bordello, who clearly toned their Ukrainian roots. Kultur Shock are even as mad, mixing hectic punkrock with pathetic vocals, tango, turkish tunes and balkan-style violins. I like this one better than Gogol Bordello because the guitars kick ass way better and there's more drive because of the gross changes in rhythm. I don't really like the singer's voice, but i like the suction that goes out from the hectic.
