KENZARI'S MIDDLE KATA / NIHILISTS - Finis (Millipede Records)

Split CD with two bands that are buddy buddy with each other: KMK from the Bavarian province and Nihilists from Berlin/Braunschweig. The first six positions on this CD belong to KMK and it's impressing to see how things are forging ahead within the band. From release to release there's constant progress in refining the songwriting. This time it seems that the band has patterned itself on instrumental post-something bands like From Monument To Masses and similar, but mixed with the own special sound that the band built over the years. Great stuff.

I must admit that this is my first contact with Nihilists after I've heard a lot of good things about them. Compared to that I'm a little bit disappointed. Nihilists play noisy and often instrumental rock music that in parts reminds me of some so-called post-metal bands that are so hip right now (maybe I'm just saying that because I listened to Bossk a few minutes ago.) Not bad though, but I still got to get familiar with it.

I know, friends are not competing, but if they were then KMK won.
