HARMFUL - 7 (Nois-o-lution)
It took some time for Harmful and me until we found each other. It happened when their last album came out - "Sis Masis". That was when the band combined hardness, melody and good songwriting optimally for the first time. After over a dozen years of band history "7" is Harmful's seventh album, which is a little bit different again, but it maintained the good things. The album title seems like an exclamation mark, as if the band wanted to conclude something or to make a new start - or maybe just stress how long they've been around now. There has been a spectacular change in the line-up for Bily Gould of Faith No More fame decided to join the band. The change in the music is less spectacular, but just as obvious. It's difficult to describe what's new, but "7" sounds more compact, more reduced and still more like ROCK than its predecessors, and all in all it's loud enough to bring in the term "noise" for good reason. That's what Harmful started like: as a noise rock band. There's no need to search for references and comparisons, this album forges its way even more majestically than all of its predecessors. Harmful are s experienced and they are self-confident as fuck and now they are building their own monument. "7" sounds like if they are topping out.
