| CARETTA CARETTA - We Can Not Speak This Language (Coraille) |
| I simply know that Uli and Tobi of Coraille Records have the same taste in music as I have. In this case they discovered a young three-piece from Wuerzburg(Germany) and put out their debut album. And because Caretta Caretta allegedly cannot speak this language, they decided to play their songs without vocals. Their album contains six wonderful and tricky instrumental songs of the cool instrumental style, which is not the lame one that Mogwai or Godspeed play. The album starts with a nervous drum that reminds me of Caretta Carettas late labelmates called Dragon Rapide, but all in all they're less jazzy and more rock. Remember From Monument To Masses. The arrangements are simple, there's not more noise than guitar, drums and bass can make, but the band compensates that through a fine technique. In my opinion this is the way postrock is supposed to sound like. |
